About the Role
At WSP, you have the opportunity to shape a career as unique as you. Specifically supporting the Development team, which provides transport planning, civil infrastructure and urban design support on development and masterplanning projects, this role plays a key part in our growth across Bristol and the wider South West. We are seeking an Associate Director or Technical Director with a development transport planning background, embedded within the local and regional market, to help strengthen and expand our offer across the South West region.
The successful candidate will focus on client-facing activities, business growth, market strategy and technical leadership, supporting the diversification and growth of the business in capability and revenue. You will work as part of a single South West Development team, maintaining regular engagement with the established Bristol Development team and supporting clients across the region.
The South West is one of WSP’s most exciting growth markets, with opportunities in strategic residential development, regeneration, infrastructure-led growth, defence, energy transition and Homes England programmes. Working alongside Development Planning, Development Infrastructure and Urban Design teams, you will develop client relationships, identify opportunities and support the growth of our Development business.
You will have a proven track record in winning and delivering new work, ideally within a multidisciplinary consultancy environment, with experience across public and private sectors. Experience contributing to major multidisciplinary pursuits and tender opportunities is essential, as is the ability to identify new work opportunities with clients and colleagues across WSP.
Key responsibilities include identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, supporting growth targets and plans, liaising with clients and stakeholders, providing technical advice, collaborating across teams, leading bids, and ensuring compliance with Health & Safety and Corporate Responsibility standards.
This role offers the chance to influence the future direction of a growing multidisciplinary Development business, grow capability, develop client relationships and support WSP’s presence across Bristol, Exeter and the wider South West.

About you
Client-focused with strong leadership skills and the ability to grow client relationships and business capability. Comfortable working across a wide region and engaging regularly with teams and clients. Passionate about mentoring and developing talent.
