About the Role
As a Tree Officer at Charnwood Borough Council, you will play a key role in protecting and shaping the borough’s natural heritage. You will lead on all tree-related matters, ensuring the sustainable management and protection of Charnwood’s green assets. Your responsibilities will include assessing trees for protection and Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs), handling applications and appeals, and providing expert arboricultural advice to planning officers, enforcement teams, councillors, and the public. You will champion tree health and biodiversity across the borough, directly influencing the quality of life and environmental legacy of local communities.

Experience
- Experience assessing trees for Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) and navigating relevant legislation
- Proven ability to provide expert arboricultural advice and handle applications and appeals
About You
- Passionate and knowledgeable about arboriculture
- Strong communicator and collaborator
- Able to build trusted relationships with stakeholders and elected members
- Holds a full UK driving licence and willing to travel throughout the borough, potentially using your own transport
Qualifications
- Degree, diploma, or substantial experience in a related arboriculture or tree protection field
- Membership of a recognised professional body
