About the Role
We are seeking two experienced and enthusiastic Waste Enforcement Officers to join our Inspection and Enforcement team. In this role, you will be responsible for investigating incidents of illegal waste dumping (fly-tipping) and littering offences. Your duties will include patrolling designated areas, gathering evidence, issuing penalties, and working closely with local communities to prevent fly-tipping. You will collaborate with other enforcement agencies and educate the public on the legal and environmental impacts of fly-tipping and littering. This role requires preparing evidence and documentation for legal proceedings and ensuring cases are processed in accordance with relevant regulations. You will also conduct regular patrols of fly-tipping hotspots and vulnerable locations to help maintain a clean and safe environment.
Experience
- Proven experience investigating littering and fly-tipping incidents
- Experience issuing fixed penalty notices (FPNs), legal notices, and Community Protection Notices
- Preparing evidence and documentation for legal proceedings

- Assertive with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Ability to deal sensitively and professionally with residents, councillors, utility companies, and statutory bodies, even in potentially confrontational situations
- Clear and concise communication skills
- Pragmatic approach to conflict resolution and enforcement
Qualifications
- Good working knowledge of relevant legislation including the Refuse Disposal (Amenity) Act 1978, Environmental Protection Act 1990, Clean Neighbourhood and Environment Act 1990, and London Local Authorities Act
- Confidence using computer systems including MS Office software
- Must hold a valid, full UK driving licence
