About the Role
We are seeking two experienced and enthusiastic Waste Enforcement Officers to join our Inspection and Enforcement team. In this role, you will be responsible for investigating incidents of illegal waste dumping (fly-tipping) and littering offences. Your duties will include patrolling designated areas, gathering evidence, issuing penalties, and working closely with local communities to prevent fly-tipping. You will collaborate with other enforcement agencies and educate the public on the legal and environmental impacts of fly-tipping and littering. This role requires conducting regular patrols in vulnerable locations and monitoring fly-tipping hotspots to ensure compliance and maintain community standards.
Experience
- Proven experience investigating littering and fly-tipping incidents, including collecting evidence and witness statements.
- Experience issuing Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs), legal notices, and preparing evidence for legal proceedings.
- Familiarity with Community Protection Notices and relevant enforcement procedures.

- Confident in using computer systems, including MS Office.
- Ability to deal sensitively and professionally with residents, councillors, utility companies, and statutory bodies, maintaining excellent customer care even in confrontational situations.
- Assertive with strong interpersonal skills and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving and conflict resolution.
- Clear and concise communication skills.
Qualifications
- Good working knowledge of the Refuse Disposal (Amenity) Act 1978, Environmental Protection Act 1990, Clean Neighbourhood and Environment Act 1990, and London Local Authorities Act.
- Must hold a valid, full UK driving licence.
