About the Role
Join Hampshire County Council's Waste and Resource Management team as one of two Waste Projects Officers, helping to improve waste and recycling services for residents while supporting environmental outcomes and resource efficiency across the county. These varied roles offer the opportunity to work across a range of service areas including project delivery, service improvement, site visits to waste management sites, customer service, data reporting and operational support. Working as part of the Universal Services Waste and Resource Management Team, you will support the delivery and continuous improvement of a range of waste management services across Hampshire. The role provides operational, administrative and project support across multiple service areas, helping to ensure services are delivered efficiently, effectively and in accordance with organisational priorities.
The post-holder will be an integral member of the Waste and Resource Management team, working closely with colleagues, contractors and stakeholders to support waste management operations (including Household Waste Recycling Centres), customer service activities, data management, service monitoring and business improvement initiatives. You will contribute to the development and maintenance of processes, guidance, records and performance information, while supporting the delivery of both day-to-day operations and longer-term projects.
As a Waste Projects Officer, you will be expected to work with a degree of autonomy, managing a varied workload and responding flexibly to changing business priorities. The role involves analysing information, undertaking investigations, coordinating activities across different workstreams, supporting compliance and monitoring requirements, and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and service delivery. You will be a proactive and adaptable team member, capable of building effective working relationships and providing support across Waste and Resource Management services.
Working closely with colleagues, contractors and stakeholders, you will help ensure services are delivered efficiently and effectively, while contributing to projects and initiatives that support the future development of waste and resource management services across Hampshire. No two days are likely to be the same, with work ranging from resolving day-to-day operational issues to supporting longer-term business improvement activities.
Hampshire County Council is a flexible employer committed to making the most of your skills and offers a great work-life balance. You will have the opportunity to work on interesting and ambitious projects that have a direct positive impact on the area.
