Location
Usually based at Bardon Waste Transfer Station, Coalville RHWS or Shepshed RHWS. Travel to other waste sites in the County will be required, with mileage claimable in accordance with policy.
Hours
37 hours per week - Annualised averaging 37 hours per week (averaging 41.5 hours per week through the summer, and 32.5 hours per week through the winter). Week 1: Saturday to Friday (7 days). Week 2: Monday to Wednesday (3 days). Start times usually from 8am with finish times up to 18:00.
Salary
£29,550 - £32,055 per annum (pro-rata for part-time). The position is subject to a non-contractual retention payment of £125 per month after successful completion of the probationary period, subject to eligibility criteria.
About the Role
Do you enjoy working with people and looking after the environment, where no two days are the same? You will be working with a friendly team with a good balance of indoor and outdoor working. As a key member of the team, you will support the delivery of a high-quality Recycling and Household Waste Site and Waste Transfer Station service. You will work closely with your line manager to supervise operational staff and daily operations on waste sites, maintaining equipment and resources to agreed levels. You will be required to be computer literate and familiar with MS Office or equivalent. In addition, there may be opportunities to become a qualified HGV driver with CPC.
Experience
Experience in staff training and development, customer-facing roles, using MS Office packages, supervision of operational staff, waste operations, and working in accordance with Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality Management Systems in the Waste Management Industry.

Ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English. Effective communication with colleagues and customers, understanding customer needs and delivering high performance. Knowledge of waste disposal and treatment legislation, with a good understanding of Health & Safety on site, waste site operations, and environmental compliance. Commitment to organisational values and delivering accessible and inclusive services to meet the needs of all residents. Qualifications
Must hold a GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English OR a BTEC National, NVQ3 or equivalent Level 3 qualification. WAMITAB CoTC Level 4 or above (or willingness to work towards as necessary) and Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work – First Response or equivalent (or willingness to work towards as necessary). Hold, or be willing to work towards, Loading Shovel / Telehandler tickets and Forklift Truck licence.
