About the Role
Forestry England’s South District Harvesting & Marketing Direct Production team is responsible for planning and harvesting around 50,000m3 of timber annually. As a Work Supervisor (Harvesting), you will support the delivery of Forest Design Plans and conservation objectives while fulfilling supply contracts for sawmill customers. Most timber is produced as shortwood by mechanised harvesting contractors, with a smaller element of mature hardwood felled using traditional motor manual techniques. You will work closely with Land Management and Planning teams to ensure sustainable forest management and operational success. This role is based at one of the main South District offices in Lyndhurst SO43 7NH or Micheldever SO21 3BP.

Requirements

Experience
Experience in forestry operations, harvesting supervision, or related fields is desirable. Knowledge of mechanised harvesting and motor manual techniques is advantageous.

Strong communication and decision-making skills are essential. You are committed to delivering quality service and working safely in a dynamic outdoor environment.

Qualifications
Relevant forestry or land management qualifications are beneficial but not mandatory. A full clean UK driving licence is desirable. Successful candidates will be subject to a criminal record check and government baseline personnel security standard check.
