The Radioactives Chemist Team Lead (internally known as "Active Waste Chemist") will manage the compliant and safe control of radioactive inputs at the Fawley site, driving revenue growth. You will lead and manage key customer waste from initial enquiry through processing to final disposal, ensuring efficient, professional service and strict compliance with the site's Radioactive Environmental Permit.

Key responsibilities include managing customer enquiries, providing technical support, booking radioactive waste in compliance with radiological permits, arranging transport documentation, ensuring waste storage compliance, programming radioactive wastes into the incinerator, maintaining accurate disposal records, and ensuring all disposals meet regulatory requirements. You will also provide clear burn plan instructions to Incinerator Shift Managers and ensure radiological clearance checks on containers returned to customers.

This role requires strong skills to maximise revenue while maintaining regulatory compliance and safety at all times.

Requirements

Experience
Proven background in Radiation Protection work, ideally as a qualified Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) or actively working towards this qualification.
Experience managing staff and acting as a line manager.
Knowledge of UK radioactive waste management and the nuclear industry.
Understanding of Health & Safety and Environmental legislation.
Knowledge of Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA) requirements relating to radioactives is essential, with a relevant qualification preferred.
Computer literate with proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and SAP.

Qualifications
