About the Role
We are seeking an Area Pumping Manager to provide maternity cover for 12 months starting in December. As part of the London Waste team, you will be accountable for the day-to-day operational delivery of wastewater pumping services for 200 pumping stations serving over 2 million customers in the Mogden Catchment. This role requires a driven individual to tackle customer and environmental challenges, lead asset investment, and champion operational excellence. You will work closely with teams across the Waste Directorate to meet performance, legal, and regulatory standards while driving continuous improvement and minimising risk.
- Oversee the implementation of health and safety standards
- Take ownership of part of the delivery of a planned, proactive stakeholder and community engagement campaign
- Drive delivery of maintenance schedules and recommend improvements based on local insight
- Hold responsibility for compliance with environmental, legal, regulatory, and legislative requirements
- Drive optimal budgetary control of both operational and directly managed capital expenditure
- Promote operational excellence and continuous improvement

Experience
- Strong leadership with demonstrable ability to engage and motivate large, distributed teams
- Proven track record in fostering a strong culture of health and safety excellence
- Experience in proactively engaging and influencing stakeholders to develop sustainable, long-lasting relationships
- Demonstrable environmental compliance and commitment to environmental excellence
- Strong financial and commercial acumen with ability to manage budgets and drive local accountability for cost control

About you
- Passionate ambassador for Thames Water and the environment
- Excellent IT literacy and communication skills
- Full UK Driving Licence required

Qualifications
- NEBOSH qualification is desirable
- Operational leadership background in wastewater process-related industries is advantageous
- Understanding of industrial processes and identification of non-value-added activities is beneficial
