About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Asset Performance team within one of the UK’s largest environmental organisations. You will play a vital role in managing flood risk assets across a defined geographical area, helping to protect communities from the impacts of flooding. As part of a team, you will contribute to the full lifecycle of flood risk management assets, including planning, delivery, maintenance and, where appropriate, decommissioning.

Your enthusiasm, problem-solving mindset and positive outlook will help you identify practical solutions that ensure our assets are inspected, surveyed, maintained and operated safely and efficiently. You will work with our asset management information system to collect, input, review and interpret data, ensuring it is accurate, reliable and able to support operational decisions and long-term investment planning. This will involve site visits to understand our asset base and undertake inspections. Full training will be provided to support your development.

The role is varied and people-focused. You will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders, including internal colleagues, field teams, other risk management authorities, flood groups and residents.

Travel to offices, depots and flood defences across the area is required, so a full UK driving licence is essential.

The team you will join is part of Wessex Asset Performance within Flood and Coastal Risk Management Operations. The team manages the whole lifecycle of flood and coastal assets to reduce risk, protect communities and improve the local environment. It is a friendly multi-skilled team including Catchment Managers, Assistant Catchment Managers, Engineers, Asset Inspectors, Technical Advisors, and Data Officers.

Requirements

Experience
Passion for asset and/or flood risk management and a commitment to protecting communities at risk of flooding. Experience in managing data using asset information management systems is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and confidence in interpreting information to support decision making is required. Awareness of asset management principles is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.

About you
Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills with the ability to plan your own workload. Clear verbal and written communication skills to work effectively with colleagues, partners and the public. Ability to undertake site work, which may involve walking long distances in adverse weather conditions. A positive, problem-solving attitude and willingness to learn and develop technical knowledge.

A full UK driving licence is essential due to travel requirements across the area.

Qualifications
No specific qualifications are required for this role. Appropriate training and development opportunities will be provided to support your growth within the role.
