The project: Our client is the utilities provider in the South-East geographic area. Their purpose is to deliver services in an environmentally sustainable, economically beneficial, and socially responsible manner and create sustainable long-term value for all.

As Associate Project Director, you will drive collaborative delivery of water and recycling projects across the AMP8 programme, overseeing governance, risk, cost and change control. You will manage allocated reservoir assets to meet safety, schedule, budget and regulatory milestones, supporting DCO approvals and future procurement for major reservoir infrastructure under nationally significant programmes.

You’ll be responsible for managing safe, high-quality and compliant project delivery while championing wellbeing and an inclusive culture. You will oversee end-to-end programme management, ensuring alignment with client vision and key milestones. Managing budgets responsibly, you will drive ethical, sustainable outcomes and shape long-term strategic direction.

Developing and empowering teams, you will foster collaboration, innovation and best-practice excellence across stakeholders. You will manage end-to-end project delivery to ensure timeframes, budgets and stakeholder expectations are met. Driving collaboration across client, consultant and contractor teams, you will manage senior stakeholders and project governance.

Providing strategic expertise, continuous improvement and leadership to teams, you will align delivery with Mace’s strategic priorities.

Requirements

Experience
Membership of RICS, CIOB, APM, ICE or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
Extensive experience in the successful delivery phase of projects and programmes in the Utility sector.
Deep property or infrastructure project management expertise.
Strong commercial and financial acumen.
Leadership and management experience of large, diverse teams.
Experience of managing relationships with key senior stakeholders.
Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.
