About the Role
Tetra Tech Europe is a leading multi-national, multi-disciplinary consultancy offering exciting opportunities for senior grade consultants at Associate, Associate Director, and Technical Director levels. Join our UK-based Environment, Sustainability & Planning (ESP) team to support its continued growth and work on challenging, often ground-breaking projects across sectors including water, residential and commercial, defence, transport infrastructure, energy and renewables, waste, and minerals. Projects are predominantly UK and Ireland based, with some international opportunities.

You will join an established and expanding Environmental Planning team, collaborating with technical experts across engineering, environmental, planning, sustainability, and project management disciplines. The role involves supporting and managing a range of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) projects within a consultancy environment, with opportunities to broaden skills in team and project management, business development, and technical assessment.

This senior leadership role reports to the Head of EIA and Natural Capital and offers the chance to influence team direction, particularly regarding policy changes and emerging sectors and technologies. Our team has a strong reputation for high technical standards, demonstrated through IEMA’s EIA Quality Mark scheme membership and thought leadership via industry working groups and conferences.

Key Responsibilities
1. Project Management and Direction: Lead multiple projects ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met; coordinate with teams and stakeholders; develop and implement project plans; engage effectively with government agencies, communities, NGOs, and developers.
2. Environmental Impact Assessment: Coordinate robust assessments of environmental, social, and economic impacts across sectors; experience with Development Consent Orders (DCOs) advantageous; stay current with environmental regulations and collaborate on forthcoming changes; provide industry thought leadership through publications and events.
3. Team Management and Leadership: Support Heads of EIA & Natural Capital and Planning with technical and commercial expertise; lead team meetings and events; manage and mentor junior staff; participate in recruitment and onboarding.
4. Business Development and Client Management: Leverage sector knowledge and professional contacts; understand bidding, contract review, supply chain management, and consortium building; own business development and client relationships within specific sectors or geographies.
5. Report Writing and Communication: Prepare comprehensive EIA reports including Screening and Scoping studies; present findings to clients and regulators; ensure technical accuracy and clarity; conduct thorough QA reviews.
6. Technical Specialism(s): Demonstrate or develop expertise in Strategic Environmental Assessment, sustainability, climate change, socio-economics, human health, natural capital, ecosystem services, ESG, or sustainable finance; understanding of planning and consenting processes advantageous.
