About the Role
We are seeking a talented Consultant Arboriculturist to join Tetra Tech’s well-established environment business. This role offers the opportunity to grow and develop an arboricultural team working closely alongside our multi-award winning ecology and natural capital teams. You will contribute to a diverse project portfolio within a multidisciplinary consultancy, collaborating with colleagues from Planning, Placemaking, Engineering, Transportation, and Asset Management. The role involves proactive relationship building across the business, supporting projects from tendering through to delivery, and providing expert arboricultural advice across sectors including Residential, Defence, Energy, Government Services, and Transport.

Main duties include:
- Conducting BS 5837 arboricultural surveys, veteran/ancient tree assessments, visual tree assessments, safety/risk surveys, and management advice for local and national projects
- Preparing a variety of reports such as tree survey schedules, Tree Constraints and Opportunities Plans, Management Plans, Impact Assessments, and Method Statements
- Liaising with local authorities regarding legal tree protections including TPOs and Conservation Areas
- Supervising site works and attending client meetings to provide arboricultural advice
- Preparing fee proposals and competitive tenders
- Undertaking quality assurance of reports and plans
- Supporting the Natural Capital team with arboricultural expertise

Experience
- Minimum Level 4 qualification in arboriculture (Qualifications and Credit Framework)
- Proven experience conducting BS 5837 surveys and reporting, including use of surveying equipment and digital tools
- Strong arboricultural identification skills, including pests, diseases, and fungi affecting tree risk and lifespan
- Experience in line management, recruiting, training, and developing staff
- Experience in quality assurance and producing high-quality outputs
- Full UK driving licence
