About the Role
This role is essential to support our outdoor learning and education centre, the services we provide for children and young people, and the diverse grounds consisting of around 85 acres. Hudnall Park is a beautiful site, in constant use during Spring and Summer. We are developing an ambitious strategy to increase activity at the site, with the intention of utilising it all year round. This role is important to the success of that development. The centre comprises a number of staff including those managing the site itself and various projects, alongside a number of instructors and delivery staff.
The post holder will engage daily with other teams from the county council, external providers and contractors, children, young people, and families. The winter months are quieter, with core maintenance being updated and planned during this period.
The post holder is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the site to ensure it meets the highest standards in readiness for visitors. Tasks include preparing the house and grounds for overnight and day activities such as helping with washing bedding and changing bed linen according to group visits, cleaning carpets and furniture, supporting external providers on site including caterers, cleaners and contractors, and providing a friendly approach to visitors and guests.
Additional duties include assisting with health and safety responsibilities and risk assessments, maintaining the site in good order by recognising issues and undertaking routine repairs and decorating such as cleaning windows, sills, interior glass doors, ironmongery, painting and basic decorating. The role involves using on-site equipment and machinery to perform maintenance and arranging timely servicing of equipment including Polaris ATV, John Deere mower, and strimmer.
Regular checks on plumbing and central heating are required, with timely reporting of any issues. The post holder will assist with populating maintenance schedules for centre plant in accordance with manufacturers’ guidance and training provided. The role includes providing ‘on call’ backup as part of a rota system and opening and closing the site during weekend activities when required. On-site training will be provided in liaison with the direct line manager.
