About the Role
Join the Sustainable Transport Team delivering a shared service for Kingston and Sutton councils. As a professional National Standard Cycle Instructor, you will primarily deliver cycle training to Year 5 and Year 6 pupils in schools, with additional opportunities for one-to-one teaching with adults and families. You will be part of a supportive team providing a comprehensive Bikeability programme, the Government's approved cycle training scheme.
Your duties will include conducting playground and ridden road risk assessments within a 2km radius of venues, arriving in advance for safety checks and setup, completing online rider assessments, writing reports and certificates, and managing incident reporting and emergencies.
Working for two high performing London boroughs, you will benefit from flexible working arrangements, including hybrid and agile working supported by provided equipment. Both boroughs are committed to tackling the climate emergency and investing in sustainable transport initiatives.
Kingston is a historic Royal borough with excellent schools, green spaces, and a vibrant community, while Sutton offers excellent schools, green open spaces, and a strong heritage and culture. Both councils prioritize resident engagement and delivering high quality public services.
This role offers the chance to inspire young people, promote sustainable travel, and work outdoors in a dynamic environment.

About you
You will be a confident cyclist with a positive attitude, comfortable working with children and communicating effectively with diverse audiences. Good general fitness is important to cycle between schools carrying equipment and conducting risk assessments. You should be enthusiastic about promoting sustainable travel and able to work flexibly outdoors.
Qualifications
All cycle instructors must hold or be willing to obtain the Level 2 Award in Teaching Cycle Training. Additional training in First Aid, Safeguarding, and Cycle Maintenance will be provided if appropriate.
