As part of the Sustainable Transport and Commissioning team, you will lead the delivery of new schemes that improve Sutton's road network and support the Mayor of London’s Transport Strategy. Your work will focus on encouraging walking and cycling, improving road safety, and enhancing public transport accessibility. You will manage projects from feasibility through to implementation, including resident engagement and close liaison with Ward Councillors.
Exciting projects in the pipeline include a major road safety scheme in Woodcote, strategic cycling corridors in Sutton and Hackbridge, School Streets, pedestrian crossings, area-wide schemes, and a major Public Realm scheme for Sutton Town Centre. Additionally, you will contribute to highway schemes supporting the London Cancer Hub development in Belmont.

Experience
Desirable background in highways and transport, project management, or transport planning. Experience in delivering schemes that encourage walking and cycling is advantageous.
About you
You should be IT and digitally literate with strong analytical skills to understand and present data effectively. A confident and highly effective project manager, able to manage multiple priorities and deliver projects on time and within budget. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including elected members. Political awareness and the ability to write and present reports at committee meetings are required. You will be a team player who supports innovation, best practice, and creativity with a positive ‘Can do’ attitude. Accountability and responsibility for resources, championing change and improvements, and supporting colleagues are key attributes.
