About the Role
Due to the continued importance of climate change as a key issue for built development and major infrastructure, we are seeking a Senior Consultant to join our team. You will work across the Town & Country Planning and Development Consent Order regimes, supporting a strong pipeline of major applications across sectors including renewable energy, transport, urban regeneration, and new communities. These projects require climate change impact assessments as part of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). You will also provide carbon, climate change, and wider ESG advice to corporates, developers, and investors throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include:
- Working closely with project teams to guide schemes on carbon management and climate change
- Undertaking greenhouse gas emission assessments for Environmental Statements and planning documents
- Conducting climate change adaptation and resilience assessments for ESs and standalone reports
- Contributing to carbon management plans for infrastructure projects
- Performing carbon accounting (scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions) for projects, portfolios, and corporate operations
- Managing and delivering work to programme and budget, reporting to project leads
- Coaching and supervising junior staff
- Identifying growth opportunities and supporting bids for future work
- Conducting research to develop innovative new services
- Producing high-quality written reports, thought pieces, and blogs
- Assisting with internal and external presentations
- Attending site visits and project meetings

Requirements

Experience
- Proven experience in climate change consultancy, particularly within Town & Country Planning and Development Consent Order regimes
- Strong track record in authoring climate change chapters for Environmental Statements
- Experience undertaking assessments in line with IEMA (now ISEP) guidance on greenhouse gas emissions and climate change resilience/adaptation
- Knowledge of the planning system and EIA Regulations for TCPA and DCO regimes
- Experience managing projects to programme and budget
- Ability to coach and supervise junior staff

About you
- Relevant degree at 2:1 or above
- Membership of a relevant professional institution
- Broad understanding of environmental, social, economic, and sustainability issues
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Personable, professional, motivated, ambitious, and driven
- Strong team-working skills and commercially minded with personal responsibility
- Detail-oriented with excellent time and workload management skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office packages
- Hold a full UK driving licence and willing to travel nationally
- Committed to continuing professional development with a willingness to learn and progress
