About the Role
Due to the continued importance of climate change as a key issue for built development and major infrastructure, we are seeking a Senior Consultant to join our team. You will work across the Town & Country Planning and Development Consent Order regimes, supporting a strong pipeline of major applications across sectors including renewable energy, transport, urban regeneration, and new communities. These projects require climate change impact assessments as part of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA). The role will focus heavily on climate change assessment to support UK consenting regimes, with opportunities to provide strategic advice on climate change mitigation and adaptation.
Key responsibilities include working closely with project teams at pre-application and determination stages regarding carbon management and climate change, undertaking greenhouse gas emission assessments for Environmental Statements and planning documents, conducting climate change adaptation and resilience assessments, contributing to carbon management plans, performing carbon accounting (scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions), managing and delivering work to programme and budget, coaching junior staff, identifying growth opportunities, undertaking research to develop innovative services, producing high-quality reports, preparing thought leadership content, and attending site visits and project meetings.

Experience
- Strong knowledge of the planning system
- Broad understanding of environmental, social, economic, and sustainability issues
- Solid grasp of EIA Regulations for TCPA and DCO regimes
- Experience undertaking assessments following ISEP (formerly IEMA) guidance on greenhouse gas and climate change resilience and adaptation
- Proven track record authoring climate change chapters for Environmental Statements
