Location
Birmingham, based at Centre of the Earth and EcoPark with frequent travel across Birmingham and The Black Country. Some home working possible. Occasional national travel may be required.

Hours
Flexible role with an expectation of 3 to 4 days per week in the office or at sites.

Salary
£26,347 per annum

About the Role
Are you passionate about nature's recovery in urban environments? Birmingham and Black Country Wildlife Trust is the leading charity dedicated to protecting and restoring nature across Birmingham and the Black Country. We manage and enhance important habitats, engage communities, and inspire action for wildlife recovery. As a Conservation Officer, you will play a key role in creating, restoring, and managing habitats that help wildlife thrive. You will take a leading role in managing land at our engagement sites, including EcoPark and Centre of the Earth, and develop and deliver Wild Work Days with corporate volunteers. Your work will involve collaborating with volunteers, contractors, community groups, and corporate partners to deliver practical conservation projects and maintain high-quality habitats. You will also prepare and implement site management plans, monitor outcomes, and support the delivery and administration of conservation projects, funding programmes, and contracts. This role requires strong practical conservation skills, excellent organisational abilities, and a collaborative approach to working with others, all driven by a commitment to creating a wilder Birmingham and Black Country.

Requirements

Experience
Proven practical conservation skills and experience in habitat management and ecological restoration. Experience working with volunteers, community groups, contractors, or corporate partners is highly desirable.

Passionate about nature and urban wildlife recovery. Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships and work collaboratively. Motivated by making a lasting impact for wildlife and communities. Flexible and able to travel frequently across Birmingham and The Black Country, with occasional national travel.

Qualifications
Relevant qualifications in conservation, ecology, environmental science or related fields are desirable but not explicitly stated. A commitment to ongoing learning and development is essential.
