Senior Conservation Officer (Conservation Training)

Location
Birmingham, based at Centre of the Earth and EcoPark, with frequent travel across Birmingham and the Black Country. Some home working and occasional national travel may be required.
Hours
Flexible role with an expectation of 3 to 4 days per week in the office or at sites.
Salary
£28,398 per annum
About the Role
Are you passionate about nature's recovery in urban environments? Join Birmingham and Black Country Wildlife Trust, the leading charity dedicated to protecting and restoring nature across Birmingham and the Black Country. In this role, you will play a key part in creating, restoring, and managing habitats that enable wildlife to thrive. You will lead and develop the Trust's conservation training programme, delivering both accredited and non-accredited training in practical conservation and wider nature recovery skills. From species identification and habitat management to tool use and volunteer leadership, you will help build the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to support nature's recovery across the region. This role involves working collaboratively with learners, volunteers, community groups, corporate partners, and contractors to foster positive relationships and encourage active participation in conservation efforts. Your work will contribute to a wilder Birmingham and Black Country and make a lasting impact for wildlife through practical conservation, ecological restoration, education, advocacy, and community engagement.
Experience
Strong practical conservation skills with experience in habitat management, species identification, and delivering training. Proven ability to manage projects, staff, volunteers, and trainees. Experience in building and maintaining positive relationships with partners, communities, and funders.

Organised, collaborative, and confident in engaging with a wide range of stakeholders. Motivated by nature conservation and committed to supporting nature's recovery in urban areas. Able to work flexibly across multiple sites and adapt to a mix of office, field, and home working environments.
Qualifications
Relevant qualifications in conservation, ecology, environmental education, or related fields are desirable. Experience in delivering accredited training and managing biodiversity enhancement projects is advantageous.
