Senior Conservation Officer (12 Month Maternity Cover)

Location
Birmingham, based at Centre of the Earth and EcoPark, with frequent travel across Birmingham and the Black Country. Some home working possible and occasional national travel may be required.
Hours
Flexible role with an expectation of 3 or 4 days per week in the office or at sites.
Salary
£28,398 per annum

As Senior Conservation Officer, you will lead the delivery of biodiversity enhancement and habitat creation projects, with a particular focus on freshwater habitats and ecological restoration. You will manage project budgets, reporting, resources and contractor procurement, develop and maintain partnerships with landowners, community groups and other stakeholders, and support funding opportunities including grant applications and tenders. You will also manage and support project staff, volunteers and trainees, contributing significantly to the Trust's nature recovery ambitions and ecological restoration work.
This role requires strong practical conservation skills, excellent organisational abilities and a collaborative approach to working with others. You will confidently build positive relationships with learners, volunteers, community groups, corporate partners and contractors, helping others contribute to nature's recovery. Above all, you will share our commitment to creating a wilder Birmingham and Black Country and be motivated by the opportunity to make a lasting impact for wildlife.
Experience
Proven practical conservation skills with experience in delivering biodiversity enhancement and habitat creation projects. Experience managing project budgets, reporting, resources and contractor procurement. Experience working with community groups, landowners and other stakeholders. Experience supporting or managing staff, volunteers or trainees is desirable.

Collaborative and confident in building positive relationships with diverse groups. Flexible and motivated to work across multiple sites with occasional travel. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications
Relevant qualifications in ecology, conservation, environmental science or related fields are desirable but not explicitly stated. A full clean driving licence is likely required due to travel demands.
