About the Role
Stantec is seeking an Energy & Sustainability Consultant / Senior Consultant to join our dynamic Building Performance team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to creating efficient buildings, heat networks, and reducing operational energy with social value, responding creatively to the needs of people, places, and the environment. You will support the creation of energy models and produce sustainability and energy strategies to help clients make informed decisions about their buildings and energy systems. Our projects span public and private sectors nationally and internationally, including educational buildings, commercial and industrial properties, regeneration projects, and frameworks of varying scale. Experience
Experience with key software tools such as IESVE (especially ApacheHVAC and overheating analysis), SAP and/or SBEM for building fabric analysis, and OneClick LCA for embodied carbon assessment is essential. Familiarity with CFD, hydraulic and energy network modelling, microgrid analysis, renewable energy modelling, Python for data analysis, and data visualisation tools like PowerBI or Tableau is beneficial. A solid understanding of SBTi, UK building regulations (Parts L, O, S, F, CP1), and sustainability assessment frameworks such as BREEAM or NABERS UK is important.
About you
You hold a university degree in a relevant subject such as physics, geography, chemistry, or engineering (building services or mechanical). An MSc in Sustainability or Environmental Management is advantageous but not essential. You can translate abstract concepts and technical requirements into clear, practical solutions and are enthusiastic about research, self-directed learning, and applying data-driven approaches. Strong communication skills, particularly in report writing and presentations, are essential. You are motivated to work collaboratively within a team and contribute to innovative sustainability solutions.
Qualifications
A relevant university degree is required. Postgraduate qualifications in sustainability or environmental management are advantageous but not mandatory.
