About the Role
Technology is transforming Britain’s energy system, creating new possibilities and challenges for how we keep it secure. Ofgem, Great Britain’s independent energy regulator, is seeking a Cyber Strategy Technical Expert to help shape our approach to cyber resilience across the energy sector.

This permanent role offers the opportunity to influence cyber security strategy and regulation across critical national infrastructure during a time of unprecedented change. You will join the Cyber Regulation and Emerging Technologies Directorate, where secure digital and operational technologies are fundamental to the clean energy transition.

With the Clean Power 2030 agenda accelerating digitalisation, infrastructure expansion, and the arrival of new technologies, you will take on a highly specialist role shaping how the energy sector manages supply chains and protects its most important assets.

You will work in a high-performing and inclusive environment with a comprehensive benefits package, broad exposure to cyber resilience across the energy sector, and the chance to make a lasting impact on the security of national infrastructure. Your work will strengthen the cyber resilience of Britain’s energy system and ensure the transition to clean power remains secure against evolving threats.

Requirements

Experience
- Significant technical leadership experience in cyber security of critical national infrastructure, such as energy.
- Proven ability to make strategic policy recommendations balancing risks, trade-offs, and wider commercial and economic considerations.
- Experience providing technical advice on complex national cyber policies or strategies in a regulated environment.
- Strong track record of balancing governance with agility and delivery at pace.
- Experience establishing relationships with new partners or sectors.
- Experience leading strategic policy development of high-profile, cross-agency workstreams and managing input from internal and external partners.
- Proven ability to engage, advise, and influence stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership.
- Effective and engaging communicator, able to distil complex technical subjects into clear messages tailored to varied audiences.

About you
You will demonstrate strategic judgement to balance security requirements, risk, and wider commercial and economic considerations. You will be a confident leader with accomplished stakeholder management skills and the ability to translate complex technical issues into clear advice for senior audiences. You will thrive in a collaborative, inclusive environment and be committed to strengthening the cyber resilience of Britain’s energy system.

Qualifications
Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in cyber security, critical national infrastructure, or related fields are expected to support your technical leadership and strategic policy expertise.
