We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic individual to lead the development of DCAN, enabling it to become a self-sustaining, community-embedded, high-impact initiative. The successful candidate will manage and support projects, campaigns, and initiatives both within the council and the community. You will be responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating a programme of engagement activities, communications, and partnerships that support the aims of DCAN.
Additional responsibilities include supporting delivery of the Council’s CEE Strategy through proactive external engagement and promotion of community-led climate action, producing reports and presenting findings to senior management and councillors, attending and reporting to committees as required, and leading communication activities related to the Council's efforts to tackle the climate and ecological emergency.
This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of two days per week working from The Forum, Hemel Hempstead, with attendance at community events across the borough. Some out of hours work may be necessary.
The Council is undergoing Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) with new unitary councils planned for April 2028. Joining now offers a unique opportunity to help shape the future of local services and be part of building a new organisation.
