About the Role
We are looking for an outstanding leader to join our ambitious Property team as our new Head of Asset Management. With a portfolio of more than 10,000 homes, you will lead high-performing teams responsible for Responsive Repairs, Empty Homes, Capital Investment, Strategic Asset Management and the decarbonisation of our social housing stock. This is an exciting opportunity to shape services that have a direct impact on the lives of our residents, ensuring their homes are safe, well maintained and places they are proud to live.
At the heart of this role is a commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience. You will champion a culture of resident focus, innovation and continuous improvement, ensuring that safety, quality and value for money underpin every decision. Working collaboratively with colleagues, contractors and partners, you will drive performance, deliver ambitious programmes and help us realise our vision for modern, sustainable housing services.
As one of four Heads of Service reporting to the Assistant Director of Assets Compliance & Investment, this is a pivotal leadership role that will play a central part in delivering our ambitious plans for the future. Success will require the ability to build trusted relationships with colleagues, contractors, elected Members and external partners, alongside excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
If you are passionate about making a lasting difference, leading talented people and delivering safe, sustainable homes and excellent services for our residents, we would love to hear from you.
Applicants must have a driving licence that is valid in the UK. A basic check will be undertaken with the Disclosure and Barring Service to ensure that the successful candidate has no relevant convictions.
Information for applicants on Local Government Reorganisation – May 2026
The Council is going through a major change as part of Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) and devolution. This means that the district and borough councils in Hertfordshire will be replaced by a smaller number of new unitary councils.
The aim is to make local government simpler and more efficient, improve services for residents, and bring decision-making closer to the communities we serve.
If you join Dacorum Borough Council between now and 31 March 2028, you will move to a new organisation on 1 April 2028. Your role will transfer to the new authority, but the way you work and who you report to may change.
While this may be different from what you are used to, it is also a rare and exciting opportunity to join Dacorum at a time of real change. You will have the chance to help shape the future of local services and be part of building something new.
The new unitary councils will create opportunities for innovation, growth, and better public services. They will offer a more joined-up and forward-looking working environment for employees.
We are committed to supporting our staff and continuing to deliver high-quality services for residents throughout this change. Together, we are building a better future.
Experience
Substantial experience across the full breadth of Asset Management, including leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver outstanding outcomes in Responsive Repairs, Empty Homes, Capital Investment, Strategic Asset Management and decarbonisation programmes.
About you
An exceptional leader with strategic vision and commercial awareness. You demonstrate empathy, integrity and the ability to inspire others, creating an environment where people thrive and residents remain at the centre of everything we do. You possess excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills and can build trusted relationships with colleagues, contractors, elected Members and external partners.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a valid UK driving licence. A basic Disclosure and Barring Service check will be conducted to ensure suitability for the role.
