About the Role
With the UK government’s ambitious goal of delivering 60GW of solar power by 2030, Solar Careers UK is committed to recruiting, training, and placing over 43,000 new professionals into rewarding careers within the solar and battery storage industry. As part of this mission, we are seeking Electrical Improvers who want a genuine route into the trade, whether your interest lies in LED lighting or Solar PV.
You will work alongside experienced installers and electricians on live commercial projects, gaining hands-on experience from day one. Your responsibilities will include panel mounting, cable pulls, containment, lighting installations, AC/DC cabling, site set-up, and following safety procedures. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills in a growing and sustainable industry.
Applications are welcome from candidates holding qualifications from Level 2 upwards to NVQ Level 3. All qualifications will be assessed, and practical trials are preferred to ensure the role is the right fit for both the candidate and the business.

Experience
- Electrical site experience at improver or mate level

About you
- Minimum Level 2 City & Guilds Electrical qualification (required for LED work)
- ECS card (mandatory for solar sites, preferred for LED projects)
- Comfortable working at height and using tools safely
- Genuine interest in renewables, solar, or commercial electrical work
- Professional, reliable, and a strong team player
- Full UK driving licence preferred
- Within reasonable commuting distance of Sevenoaks

Qualifications
- Level 2 City & Guilds Electrical qualification minimum
- NVQ Level 3 considered and assessed
- ECS card mandatory for solar sites
