About the Role
The Emergency Planning and Resilience Officer will support the Climate Action and Emergency Planning team to ensure a safe and resilient borough. This role involves working collaboratively across Council departments to deliver a robust programme of emergency planning, training, and exercising. The postholder will play a critical role in Sutton’s response to incidents, providing specialist advice to shape effective responses. Key activities include helping the Council meet the Resilience Standards for London, commissioning and delivering emergency planning training to staff, supporting incident responses, and assisting the Council’s Safety Advisory Group of events.
The role requires participation in the emergency planning out-of-hours on-call rota, which includes evenings and weekends, with additional remuneration. In-person attendance within the borough during civil contingencies is also expected.

Experience
Experience working in emergency planning or business continuity is essential. Ability to adapt to changing pace and maintain a calm, professional demeanour while making decisions under pressure during incidents is required.
