About the Role
At Thames Water, we make a daily difference to the lives of 16 million customers by supplying 2.6 billion litres of water through 32,000km of pipes - keeping taps flowing and toilets flushing. We deliver life’s essential service so our customers, communities and the environment can thrive.

We’re looking for an Energy & Carbon Analyst to join our Energy Strategy & Reporting Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a numerically minded analyst or graduate who thrives on working with data, enjoys solving complex problems and wants to build a career in energy, renewables and sustainability.

This is a data-heavy, cross-business role supporting both our Water and Wastewater operations. You’ll take ownership of renewable generation reporting and regulatory compliance, helping the business secure and protect over £12.4m in generation incentives annually.

Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading weekly, monthly and annual performance reporting of renewable generation data.
- Compiling and validating electricity, fuel and heat data from our fleet of CHP engines, boilers and flares.
- Submitting Renewable Obligation Certificate data to Ofgem (circa £9m per annum).
- Preparing estimated data methodologies, responding to regulatory queries and supporting audits.
- Supporting reporting into regulatory schemes, including CHP QA, Greenhouse Gas Reporting, Environmental Permit (IED) Reporting, Office for National Statistics returns, UK ETS, NDRHI and ISCC.
- Identifying and resolving missing or inaccurate metering data in collaboration with meter operators and site teams.
- Acting as the key contact for operational energy data queries.
- Continuously improving reporting processes and supporting the development of new reports.

You’ll work closely with a team of energy specialists, alongside operational colleagues and regulators, helping to ensure full compliance with renewable generation legislation.

What makes this role unique?
- A genuine opportunity to develop expertise in energy regulation, renewable generation and sustainability.
- Exposure to regulatory audits and direct engagement with Ofgem.
- The chance to present complex technical analysis in a clear, engaging way to stakeholders across the business.
- A visible role that directly supports financial performance and our wider energy policy.
- The opportunity to influence reporting improvements across the organisation.

What’s in it for you?
- Competitive salary up to £40,000 per annum, depending on experience.
- Annual leave: 26 days holiday per year, increasing to 30 with length of service (plus bank holidays).
- Performance-related pay plan directly linked to company performance measures and targets.
- Generous Pension Scheme through AON.
- Access to a wide range of benefits to support your health, wellbeing and finances, including annual health MOTs, physiotherapy, counselling, Cycle to Work schemes, shopping vouchers and life assurance.
