About the Role
Galliford Try is one of the UK's leading construction and infrastructure businesses, delivering innovative engineering and environmental solutions that improve lives and create lasting value. Our Environment Business provides "source to sea" asset delivery capability across the UK and Scotland, delivering both framework and standalone projects for some of the UK's leading water companies. Since AMP3, we have delivered more than £2 billion of assets for clients including Yorkshire Water, United Utilities, Anglian Water, Thames Water, Southern Water, Welsh Water and Scottish Water. As a market leader in the sector, this is an exciting opportunity to join the business as we continue to invest in sustainable delivery, innovation and environmental improvement across our projects and operations.
We are looking for a proactive and environmentally focused Environmental Advisor to join our Environment Business. Reporting to the Framework HS&E Manager, you will play a key role in supporting environmental compliance, performance improvement and the delivery of our environmental strategy across projects and frameworks. Working closely with operational teams, clients, supply chain partners and regulators, you will help ensure our projects are delivered to exemplary environmental standards, whilst supporting continuous improvement and sustainable outcomes throughout the project lifecycle.
As an Environmental Advisor, you will support the delivery of Galliford Try's environmental strategy and continual improvement initiatives, promote a positive environmental culture aligned to our Challenging Beliefs, Affecting Behaviours programme and EPIC values, provide environmental guidance and technical support to project and operational teams, and support the implementation and compliance of environmental management systems and processes. You will engage with clients, regulatory bodies, supply chain partners and project stakeholders, monitor environmental performance and support the achievement of environmental objectives and KPIs, identify opportunities to improve environmental performance and reduce risk, and support project teams throughout planning, design and construction phases. You will escalate environmental concerns and support corrective and preventative actions where necessary, and represent the HS&E function in meetings, workshops, reviews and project forums.
Key responsibilities include conducting environmental inspections, reviews and audits across projects and operational locations, undertaking ISO 14001 audits, reviewing environmental risks and supporting operational teams in implementing effective controls, supporting the review of high-risk method statements, risk assessments and environmental documentation, monitoring environmental performance and identifying trends and opportunities for improvement. You will investigate environmental incidents, non-conformances and complaints, support or lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions, manage incident reporting and close-out processes through Galliford Try systems, liaise with environmental regulators and stakeholders where required, and contribute to monthly reporting and performance reviews.
Additionally, you will deliver environmental training, awareness sessions and best practice guidance, support environmental learning and development initiatives across project teams, assist with the onboarding and review of supply chain partners, promote good environmental practice across the wider business, and build strong relationships with operational teams, clients and external stakeholders.
This role offers the opportunity to develop your career within a leading infrastructure business, working on major projects across the UK with opportunities for professional development, progression and exposure to some of the industry's most exciting environmental and infrastructure challenges. Galliford Try is committed to the wellbeing of its people through the Be Well programme, invests heavily in professional development and career progression, and offers flexible working arrangements where operationally possible.

About you
