About the Role
WSP is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Environmental Clerk of Works to support a growing portfolio of construction stage projects across various industries including windfarm, grid connection, underground and sub-sea cabling. You will monitor adherence to environmental legislation on site, carry out inspections and audits against planning conditions and Construction Environmental Management Plans, and provide guidance on environmental compliance and best practice methods. Acting as a key point of contact, you will work closely with ecologists, hydrologists, archaeologists, engineers, clients, regulatory bodies, and subcontractors to deliver integrated environmental services. Responsibilities include delivering toolbox talks, supporting incident investigation and reporting, compiling weekly site reports, and assisting with administrative tasks. The role requires a pragmatic, solutions-driven approach and the ability to work independently in remote locations. A full UK driving licence is essential due to the travel requirements.
Experience
- Experience monitoring construction activities in line with best practice guidance on projects ranging from small to large scale.
- Knowledge of environmental legislation and construction environmental management plans.
- Construction site experience and ability to work under time pressure to resolve environmental issues.
- Experience liaising with clients, regulatory bodies, and contractors.

Qualifications
- Degree in Environmental Science or Environmental Management.
- Membership of a relevant professional body.
- CSCS card or in the process of obtaining one.
- Understanding of environmental management in a construction context.
- Knowledge of environmental impact assessment legislation, policy and guidance.
- Familiarity with Environmental Authorisations (Scotland) Regulations (EASR) and pollution prevention.
