About the Role
RSK Group, through its Biocensus division, is seeking experienced Environmental Managers and Environmental Clerks of Works (EnvCoW) on a fixed-term basis (1 year, extendable) to support ongoing projects across the UK. As an Environmental Manager, you will lead the environmental and sustainability aspects of projects, providing leadership, advice, and support to ensure compliance with legislative, corporate, and additional requirements. You will develop, implement, and maintain Environmental Management Systems, ensuring all personnel understand their responsibilities.

Key responsibilities include supporting site management teams to ensure compliance with environmental and sustainability plans, developing campaigns, collating and reviewing statistics to identify improvement areas, producing plans and procedures, and providing reports and presentations. You will drive sustainability initiatives such as waste reduction, biodiversity enhancement, energy efficiency, and carbon footprint reduction. Liaising with regulators, stakeholders, consultants, and contractors will be essential to ensure compliance and project progress. You will also contribute to pre-qualification, tender, and environmental award submissions.

The Environmental Clerk of Works role supports the Environmental Manager by focusing on specific projects or clients, conducting site assessments, reporting, advising on compliance, and contributing to continuous improvement measures. This role is largely site based, reporting back to the Environmental Manager.

Requirements

Experience
- Environmental Manager: Ideally 10 years' experience in environmental management within construction or related sectors; strong candidates with less experience will be considered.
- Environmental Clerk of Works: Ideally 5 years' experience in environmental auditing and practical risk mitigation on construction projects; strong candidates with less experience will be considered.
- Experience in environmental risk mitigation including waste and water management, pollution prevention, ecological and biodiversity mitigation.
- Experience with Development Consent Orders, Biodiversity Net Gain, power and renewables projects is desirable.
- Knowledge of Net Zero principles and Environmental Incident Management and Investigation is welcomed.

- Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and management systems (ISO 14001 Lead Auditor desirable).

- Ability to work largely on site (EnvCoW role).
- Collaborative and proactive in providing feedback and driving improvements.

Qualifications
- Degree(s) in a relevant Environmental discipline.
- Professional environmental accreditation preferred; Chartered Environmentalist desirable.
- Appropriate CSCS card (e.g. Professionally Qualified Person).
- Experience in environmental auditing (EnvCoW role).
