About the Role
The Sizewell C Jobs Service supports local people into exciting, long-term careers across the project. Reporting to the Sustainability Director, the Environmental Sustainability Manager will be a key member of the Sustainability Leadership Team, leading the development and delivery of Sizewell C's Environmental Sustainability strategy and driving sustainability performance across the project. This role requires a proven sustainability leader who can unite people, influence all levels of the business, and translate ambitious sustainability goals into practical, measurable results. You will provide strategic leadership and deep technical expertise across multiple sustainability disciplines including carbon, circular economy, water, responsible sourcing, and BREEAM Infrastructure certification. You will play a critical role in shaping business decisions, influencing senior stakeholders and Board-level leaders, and ensuring sustainability is embedded across every aspect of the project.

This position offers the opportunity to lead and develop a growing team of environmental sustainability professionals, shape the sustainability strategy of one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects, influence senior leaders and external regulators, and drive real-world sustainability outcomes at a nationally important scale. You will own and lead key sustainability programmes from concept through to delivery and help deliver industry-leading performance across carbon, circular economy, water, responsible sourcing, and BREEAM Infrastructure certification. This is a visible leadership role within a highly collaborative and values-driven sustainability function.

Requirements

Experience
- Demonstrable leadership experience including leading high-performing teams and developing people
- Significant experience within major infrastructure, construction, or other complex capital projects
- Proven experience in environmental sustainability with deep technical expertise across carbon management and PAS2080, water, circular economy, sustainable procurement, and BREEAM Infrastructure
- Experience developing and implementing sustainability strategies and translating them into measurable outcomes
- Experience influencing senior executives, regulators, clients, and external stakeholders
- Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills

- Ability to influence senior leaders, executive stakeholders, and external regulators effectively

Qualifications
- Degree qualification in Environmental Science or a related discipline
- Membership of a professional organisation such as ISEP, ICE, CIWEM or an equivalent professional body

Desirable
- Experience managing regulatory, investor or sustainability commitments
- Experience working in highly regulated environments such as nuclear, energy, utilities, transport, water or other nationally significant infrastructure sectors
