About the Role
Are you ready to advance your engineering career while contributing to the sustainable management of Wales’ natural environment? This role offers a fantastic opportunity to deliver Natural Resources Wales' forestry objectives across the country. You will work alongside experienced professionals to translate forestry policy into practical action by supervising NRW teams and contractors, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest environmental standards. Your responsibilities will include planning future harvesting operations, balancing operational needs with environmental responsibilities, and monitoring civil engineering works across Wales’ forest estate. You will support progress tracking and budget management within the NRW civil engineering framework. As part of a knowledgeable and supportive team, you will collaborate across departments to deliver the annual forestry engineering programme. Reporting to the Forestry Lead Engineer and the Integrated Engineering Team Leader, you will be part of a dynamic, purpose-driven organisation where your work directly contributes to the health and sustainability of Wales’ landscapes. A full, valid UK driving licence is essential due to the travel requirements. This role offers the chance to grow your skills and make a meaningful difference in a rewarding and impactful career.

Experience
Experience in managing construction, upgrade, and maintenance of network roads and harvesting facilities is desirable. Experience in undertaking inspections of roads, footbridges, quarries, and borrow pits in line with current regulations is advantageous. Familiarity with health and safety and environmental standards is essential.

About you
You are a proactive and organised professional capable of planning, prioritising, and organising resources to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards. You can make informed decisions and know when to seek advice. You have strong communication skills, able to produce concise and persuasive written reports. You are committed to equal opportunities and diversity and understand their application within your role. You are willing to participate in incident response activities and take responsibility for your own development through personal development plans.

Qualifications
A full, valid UK driving licence is essential. Welsh language skills at A1 (Beginner) level are noted. Relevant engineering qualifications or equivalent experience in civil or forestry engineering are expected. Competence in Electronic Distance Measurement (EDM), level survey work, and producing working contract drawings is required.
