About the Role
At WSP, you will have the opportunity to work on landmark projects within a global network, collaborating with leading experts to deliver impactful freight and logistics solutions. We are seeking a Consultant or Assistant Consultant to join our growing Freight and Logistics team. This role welcomes applicants from diverse analytical and numerate backgrounds including economics, data, policy, management consulting, transport planning, freight and warehouse design and operations.

You will provide day-to-day support across a diverse portfolio of projects spanning areas such as freight policy and strategy, freight infrastructure, urban freight, logistics planning, and freight decarbonisation. Your work will support clients in developing evidence bases, business cases, and strategies aligned with national, regional and local policy frameworks.

The Freight and Logistics team is part of WSP’s Transport & Mobility business, working across the UK with public and private sector clients including Local and Combined Authorities, national government bodies, Network Rail, city regions, and freight operators. Our projects cover the full breadth of freight and logistics, from early concepts to delivery, focusing on resilient, efficient and sustainable freight movement.

Requirements

Experience
Applicants should demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience applying quantitative or structured approaches to complex, real-world challenges. Experience in freight, logistics, transport planning, economics, policy, or consulting is desirable but not mandatory.

Qualifications
Applicants from a range of numerate and analytical backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Formal qualifications in economics, data analysis, transport planning, policy, or related fields are advantageous but not essential. Commitment to ongoing professional development and accreditation is expected.
