
Location
Based anywhere in the Thames Valley, Home Counties, and London area with travel to various Thames Water sites.
Hours
45 hours per week, Monday to Friday, including a standby rota with additional payment. Opportunity to earn overtime at time and a half or double rates.
Salary
Up to £54,000 per annum, depending on experience.
About the Role
Join Thames Water’s waste treatment team as a Generator Field Service Engineer responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and optimising a fleet of Combined Heat and Power (CHP) spark ignition biogas engines across multiple sites. You will carry out planned and unplanned maintenance, working closely with CHP support staff and suppliers to ensure safe, efficient operations with minimal downtime and within budget. Accurate and timely completion of service records and reports is essential. You will identify parts, lubricants, and waste requirements, demonstrate a zero-compromise attitude towards health, safety, and well-being, and deliver excellent customer service. Additionally, you will support team members by sharing skills gained from product training. The role requires operating and optimising assets using engine/generator controls such as ComAp, DIA.NE, and TEM Evo. A company van, PPE, and tools will be provided when on duty and on call.

Experience
- Proven hands-on experience working with internal combustion engines and associated systems.
- In-depth knowledge of operation and maintenance of internal combustion engines.
- Ability to carry out thorough, methodical diagnostics on engines, generators, and related systems.
- Experience with natural/bio/AD gas engines, CHP, and gas systems is desirable but not essential.

Qualifications
