
Location
Based anywhere in the Thames Valley, Home Counties, and London area with travel to various Thames Water sites.
Hours
45 hours per week, Monday to Friday, including a standby rota with additional payment. Opportunity to earn overtime at time and a half or double rates.
Salary
Up to £54,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus overtime opportunities.
About the Role
Join Thames Water's waste treatment team as a Generator Field Service Engineer responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and optimising a fleet of Combined Heat and Power (CHP) spark ignition biogas engines. You will carry out planned and unplanned maintenance across a geographical region, working closely with CHP support staff and suppliers to ensure safe, efficient operations with minimal downtime and within budget. Your duties include completing accurate service records and reports, identifying parts and consumables required, and demonstrating a zero-compromise attitude towards health, safety, and well-being. Providing excellent customer service and sharing skills gained from product training with team members are also key aspects of the role. You will operate and optimise engine/generator controls such as ComAp, DIA.NE, and TEM Evo. A company van, PPE, and tools will be provided when on duty and on call.

Experience
- Proven hands-on experience working with internal combustion engines and associated systems.
- In-depth knowledge of operation and maintenance of internal combustion engines.
- Ability to carry out thorough and methodical diagnostics on engines, generators, and related systems.
- Experience with natural, bio, or AD gas engines, CHP, and gas systems is desirable but not essential.

Qualifications
- Ideally NVQ/C&G or an engine manufacturer's qualification in mechanical engineering.
