About the Role
Help keep Slough’s parks, streets and open spaces looking their best. We are looking for 4 practical, reliable and motivated Grounds Maintenance Semi-Skilled Operatives to join our frontline team and play a hands-on role in maintaining the places our residents use every day. From parks and gardens to roadsides, sports pitches and public open spaces, you will help create clean, safe and welcoming environments across Slough.
You will carry out a wide range of grounds maintenance activities to a high standard, including grass cutting, hedge and shrub maintenance, litter collection, ornamental planting, sports pitch preparation, minor tree works, landscaping and playground maintenance.
You will work both independently and as part of a team, using your skills, knowledge and initiative to complete allocated work safely, efficiently and professionally. You will also use electronic devices to update work progress, liaise with supervisors and colleagues, and help ensure our schedules remain accurate and effective.
Key duties include:
- Maintaining parks, gardens, open spaces, roadsides and commercial premises to a high standard
- Using grounds maintenance tools, equipment, plant and vehicles safely and responsibly
- Supporting a safe working environment for colleagues, residents, visitors and road users
- Keeping accurate records and updating work progress using handheld or in-cab devices
- Working courteously with the public and helping resolve issues on site professionally
- Contributing ideas to improve working methods, schedules and service delivery

Experience
Practical experience in grounds maintenance is desirable but not essential. A motivated and reliable approach to work is required.

You should be practical, reliable and motivated with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You must be able to use initiative and work safely and efficiently. Good communication skills and a courteous manner when working with the public are important.
You will be expected to contribute ideas to improve working methods and service delivery.

Qualifications
A Basic DBS check is required. Relevant qualifications in grounds maintenance or horticulture would be advantageous but are not essential.
