About the Role

The role is based in Oxford with a primary focus on supporting the people function of a major lab project with a build value in excess of £1bn. You will work with project leaders on an operational basis providing advice in all areas of HR with a focus on the operational delivery of the HR requirements for this project.

You’ll be responsible for:
- Acting as an HR manager driving the completion of HR activity for the project
- Working closely with line managers to provide HR advice and expertise in the execution of HR policies and processes
- Supporting line managers with effective resource management on the project
- Collaborating closely with the Talent Attraction team to facilitate effective recruitment
- Providing expertise and executing HR activities on performance management, employee relations, engagement and retention
- Working closely with the Reward team to support the annual reward review and alignment to the career framework
- Collaborating with project leadership to support career growth through effective talent management and development
- Supporting the business with engagement and retention plans aligned to company purpose, values and behaviours
- Partnering with the project and wider business to enable effective onboarding for all new joiners
- Working collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and proactively managing associated carbon emissions during project delivery

Requirements

Experience
Recognised as a capable HR professional able to apply theory and put HR skills into practice to solve problems and issues of diverse scope and complexity. Previous experience working in a business partner capacity. Project management skills or experience.

About you
You demonstrate advanced professional skills and knowledge in developing people plans and strategies, attracting, recruiting and onboarding talent, assessing and building capability, identifying and managing talent, and reward and recognition. You have a good understanding of managing change, workforce planning, delivering the employee experience, building an inclusive culture, employment policy, regulation and law, organisational design, and use of human capital management systems.

You also demonstrate advanced skills in relationship and stakeholder management, consulting, facilitation and coaching. Additionally, you have a good understanding of risk management, strategic thinking, project management, negotiation and influencing, judgement and decision making, and critical thinking.

You confront unacceptable behaviour openly and provide balanced feedback and support to improve performance. You create opportunities to coach and develop others and set challenging goals for yourself. You set quality, performance and capability goals aligned with organisational priorities. You encourage individual development and build high performing inclusive teams.

Qualifications
Educated to degree level or equivalent.
