About the Role
As the HSE Manager for Major Projects based in Renfrew, you will take a lead role within the team with day-to-day responsibility for Health, Safety, Environment and Welfare (HSEW) within the division. You will be a key leader driving operational excellence, wellbeing, and sustainability across the Major Projects division. Working collaboratively with Project Directors and leadership teams, you will influence how projects plan, think, and perform to ensure the highest HSE standards are met.
Your responsibilities include developing HSE plans, campaigns, improvement strategies, and action plans tailored to the contract's scope. You will promote compliance with the company’s Integrated Management System (IMS) and locally defined HSE controls, supporting operational management and subcontractor teams. You will identify and respond to leading and lagging indicators to improve contract and company performance.
You will establish effective communication forums, build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and lead a dedicated HSE team. You will ensure operational teams utilize the IMS during contract delivery and support the winning of new work through proposal development. Additionally, you will conduct surveillance and compliance audits, maintain ISO and customer accreditations, and promote behavioural safety and continuous improvement programs.
This role requires you to interpret and implement corporate and regional HSE policies, lead change management, and develop training programs. You will also liaise with Occupational Health and Wellbeing personnel to support workforce health initiatives.
Experience
Extensive senior HSE leadership experience within major projects, infrastructure, or engineering environments. Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence senior stakeholders. Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation, CDM Regulations, and ISO management systems. Demonstrated success in using data and insights to drive performance improvement and cultural change.

Qualifications
NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent is required. Chartered status (CMIOSH) is preferred.
