About the Role
Join Altrad, a leading provider of infrastructure services, transforming critical national infrastructure to operate safely and sustainably. We are seeking a proactive HSE Officer to join our team at Heysham 2 on a fixed term contract until 31/10/2026. This role is pivotal in ensuring site compliance with AIMS Procedures and legal requirements through regular inspections and reporting to the Regional HSE Manager and Site Management. You will act as a key communication link between the Regional HSE Manager and site operations, providing impartial advice and maintaining high standards of health, safety, environment, and quality (HSEQ). The role requires candidates to be willing to undergo or already hold CTC clearance.
Key responsibilities include collaborating with HSEQ and Operations teams to address site issues, engaging with internal and external customers to ensure procedural compliance, assisting with risk assessments and method statements, conducting daily site walk rounds, completing bi-weekly HSEQ audits, managing audit actions via MyOSH, supporting critical training, assisting in accident investigations, attending client safety and safety coordinator meetings, conducting drug and alcohol testing, and actively participating in the Altrad behavioral safety scheme to coach operatives and eliminate unsafe acts. You will also provide guidance on complex risk assessments and method statements for high-risk or novel tasks.
Experience
- Proven experience in a similar HSE role, preferably within construction or the nuclear industry
- Working knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations and site compliance
- Experience interacting with Regulators and hosting site visits
- Basic understanding of Nuclear Site Licence Conditions
- Ideally experienced in Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC, Scaffolding, and Coatings
- Strong investigative skills with keen attention to detail
About you
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively explain HSE procedures and expectations to diverse audiences. Autonomous and impartial with the ability to provide unbiased advice. Proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining high safety standards. Willingness to undergo CTC clearance if not already cleared.
Qualifications
NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
Sound knowledge of HSEQ legislation, industry best practices, and their application within the UK business environment
