About the Role

We are currently seeking a HSE Officer to join our team at Heysham 2 on a fixed term contract until 31/10/2026, starting immediately pending CTC clearance.

The HSE Officer will ensure site compliance with AIMS Procedures and legal requirements by conducting inspections and reporting findings to the Regional HSE Manager and Site Management. You will advise sites on HSEQ matters affecting their operations and act as a key communication link between the Regional HSE Manager and site teams, providing impartial advice and unbiased reporting.

Key responsibilities include collaborating with HSEQ and Operations teams to assess and respond to site needs, engaging with internal and external customers to ensure familiarity with Altrad and client procedures, assisting with risk assessments and method statements, conducting daily site walk rounds, completing bi-weekly HSEQ audits, managing audit actions via MyOSH, supporting critical training, assisting in accident investigations, attending client safety and safety coordinator meetings, conducting drug and alcohol testing, and participating in the Altrad behavioral safety scheme to coach operatives on eliminating unsafe acts.

You will also provide advice and guidance in compiling specific risk assessments and method statements for tasks involving added danger or unfamiliar activities.

Experience
- Proven experience in a similar HSE role, preferably within construction or the nuclear industry
- Working knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations
- Experience interacting with Regulators and hosting site visits
- Basic understanding of Nuclear Site Licence Conditions
- Ideally experienced in Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC, Scaffolding, and Coatings
- Strong investigative skills and attention to detail

Qualifications
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
- Sound knowledge of HSEQ legislation, industry best practices, and their application within the UK business environment
- Willingness to undergo CTC clearance or already CTC cleared
