About the Role
Join AECOM’s Water Environment team as a Hydrogeology/Groundwater Specialist Graduate from January 2026 onwards. You will work on groundwater investigative studies including baseline studies, conceptual site model preparation, water level and quality data analysis, and environmental compliance. The role involves groundwater exploration and development field studies such as drilling supervision, borehole design, water monitoring, and pumping test supervision. You will also contribute to groundwater impact assessments, including constraint identification, catchment delineation, hydrogeological impact assessment, and recommending mitigation measures.

Your responsibilities will include writing reports, analysing and interpreting data, and presenting findings. Fieldwork will involve water feature surveys, borehole drilling supervision, pumping test supervision, and environmental monitoring. Initially, you will focus on gaining site experience, progressing to greater responsibility for data interpretation and report preparation.

Key duties:
- Site work including groundwater and surface water data collection and borehole drilling supervision
- Data collation, processing and analysis using specialist groundwater software such as AquiferWin32
- Desk study evaluation of hydrogeology and contributions to factual and assessment reports
- Preparation of graphical and GIS deliverables
- Supporting innovation and business development
- Collaborating with groundwater team and other disciplines including hydrology, flood, geotechnics, contaminated land and ecology

Requirements

Experience
No prior professional experience required. Enthusiasm, self-motivation and a strong work ethic are essential. Experience with fieldwork or data analysis is advantageous but not mandatory.

About you
Ambitious, hardworking and enthusiastic with a passion for hydrogeology and groundwater science. Able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. Strong communication skills to engage confidently with clients, colleagues and stakeholders. Flexible and able to manage changing project demands. Excellent attention to detail and numeracy skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Qualifications
Master's degree in Hydrogeology, Water Resources, (Physical) Geography or a related hydrogeology/groundwater subject. Demonstrable understanding of hydrogeology through degree modules and preferably dissertation or extended essay. A full UK driving licence is desirable due to travel requirements for site surveys.
