Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm plus Standby rota payments and Overtime opportunities which can increase earning potential by up to £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.
Salary
Up to £47,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience, plus company van, tools, and PPE provided.
About the Role
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Instrumentation, Control & Automation (ICA) Technician to join our Wastewater team. You will work with multi-disciplinary teams including systems, mechanical, and electrical technicians. Your responsibilities will include installing, modifying, and commissioning new plant equipment to relevant standards, diagnosing and repairing faults on systems and plants, and proactively identifying and reporting works for enhancement. You will deliver cost-effective improvements to assets and systems, helping to reduce pollution from our sites and making a real difference to Thames Water's environmental impact.
Key duties include ensuring health, safety and well-being of yourself and others by complying with Health and Safety regulations and Thames Water guidelines; carrying out ICA maintenance on wastewater assets including planned and defect maintenance; recording work and asset information to improve business performance; providing specialist technical advice and coaching staff including apprentices; and delivering excellent customer service to internal and external customers in a professional and respectful manner.
All PPE, tools, and a company van will be provided when on duty and on call.
Experience
- Practical understanding of operational plant and control systems.
- Knowledge and experience with relay logic and PLCs (Rockwell & Allen-Bradley), including management and programming.
- Experience with inverter drives.
- Calibration and maintenance of front-line instrumentation.
- Ability to read and fault-find from circuit diagrams.
- Problem-solving skills with ability to identify issues and implement solutions or escalate as needed.
- Excellent communication skills to provide technical expertise to staff and contractors.
- Resilience and adaptability to work pressures and changing environments.
- Ability to work independently and meet design and quality standards.
- Awareness of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry.
- Team player with respect for others, providing feedback and supporting development.

Qualifications
- Qualified to HNC level or NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in an instrumentation, control and automation discipline.
- Preferably hold an 18th Edition (BS7671) qualification.
- Full UK driving licence.
