Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm. Plus standby and overtime opportunities, increasing earnings by a potential £8,000 - £10,000 upon completion of essential company training.
Salary
Up to £39,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Standby rota payments and overtime opportunities can increase this earning potential by up to a further £8,000 - £10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.
About the Role
We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team at Mill Green STW. Your role will be to ensure all equipment at the waste treatment works is safe to use and running efficiently through proactive and reactive maintenance methods, helping to keep the site operational. You will investigate plant failures and perform repairs quickly and efficiently to avoid process interruptions, including diagnosing complex faults and repairing during incidents. You will provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and support or train technical trainees if required.
Equipment you will work on includes motors, gearboxes, screw/chain conveyors, centrifuges, various pumps and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement devices, programmable chemical handling, and dosing equipment. You will also complete statutory checks as required.
Working safely and complying with all Health and Safety guidance and procedures is essential. All necessary PPE, tools, a company van, and a fuel card are provided.

Experience
Experience in mechanical maintenance within an industrial or similar environment is desirable. Ability to investigate and diagnose faults and perform repairs efficiently is essential.
About you
You will be physically fit to work in confined spaces following appropriate training. You must have a strong awareness of health and safety issues and be committed to working safely at all times. A valid driving licence is essential as company vehicles and equipment are provided. You should be proactive, reliable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications
ONC/HNC in Engineering, NVQ, or C&G Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering is crucial for this role. Completion of essential company training will be required to fully perform standby duties and overtime work.
