Monday to Friday 7:30-15:36, 38 hours per week including working on a call-out rota with additional payment

Salary
Up to £45,000 per annum depending on skills and experience. Standby rota payments and overtime opportunities can increase earnings by up to £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training

About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical / Electrical Dual Skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team within the Cotswolds area of the Thames Valley North Wastewater Operations Region. This role is ideal for someone looking to join a close-knit, high-performing team working to high standards with excellent learning and development potential, including opportunities to cross-skill across multiple engineering disciplines and broaden operational knowledge.

As the successful candidate, you will ensure all electrical equipment across our wastewater treatment sites operates safely, efficiently, and reliably. You will use proactive and reactive maintenance techniques to keep critical assets running and support site resilience.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Proactively and reactively maintaining mechanical and electrical assets across the Cotswolds sites
- Investigating plant failures and carrying out repairs quickly and efficiently to avoid process interruptions, including diagnosing complex faults and repairing during incidents
- Servicing and replacing assets
- Working on equipment such as pumps and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems (VSDs), automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement devices, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, and chemical handling and dosing equipment
- Supporting local maintenance teams with planned and breakdown maintenance on electromechanical wastewater assets
- Providing technical advice and training support to the wider team and technical trainees
- Undertaking fault diagnostics and resolving issues promptly
- Interpreting and updating technical drawings
- Monitoring treatment processes using SCADA systems and responding to alarms as required

All PPE, Tools Plus, and a company van will be provided.

Requirements

Experience
Considerable experience in electrical and systems maintenance. Experience maintaining, testing, installing, and fault diagnosing electrical plant equipment safely and efficiently. Experience with 3-phase systems is essential.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with the team. Able to take ownership of faults, investigate thoroughly, and identify the best solutions. Physically fit to work in confined spaces after appropriate training. Prepared to participate in a 24/7 out-of-hours standby rota after training and assessment. Proactive in recommending improvements and communicating effectively. Knowledge and awareness of health and safety standards and policies are essential.

Qualifications
Time-served apprenticeship in an engineering sector, NVQ Level 3 or higher in mechanical and/or electrical engineering. Mechanical qualification desirable to inspect, maintain, diagnose faults, test, install, modify, or repair mechanical and electrical plant equipment safely and efficiently. Qualifications in BS7671 or 18th Edition electrical wiring regulations are required. Full UK driving licence is essential. Role-specific training will be provided to meet safety and team competency requirements.
