Location
Bourne End WTW, Wendover Road, Bourne End, SL8 5NT. This is a mobile role requiring travel to various water treatment works around the East Thames Valley area.

Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm. Standby and overtime opportunities available upon completion of essential company training.

Salary
£41,000 - £57,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation, Control & Automation (ICA) or Control and Instrumentation (C&I) Technician to join our Water Production team. This vital role involves installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of water production assets such as level instrumentation, flow meters, and turbidity monitors. You will work with SCADA systems, PLCs, and process control networks, ensuring asset availability and performance meet manufacturer and statutory standards.

You will operate and optimise processes and on-site equipment to maintain water quality compliance, safety, and operational efficiency, including work outside normal hours. The role requires investigation and rapid resolution of asset failures to avoid interruptions to water supply. You will liaise with and supervise contractors and suppliers as needed, provide specialist technical advice, maintain up-to-date technical knowledge, and support training for technical apprentices.

All necessary PPE, tools, a company van, and a fuel card will be provided.

Requirements

Experience
- Proven experience working with relay logic and PLCs (Rockwell & Allen-Bradley), including management and programming.
- Experience in calibration and maintenance of front-line instrumentation.
- Ability to read and fault-find from circuit diagrams.
- Previous experience with inverter drives.
- Practical understanding of operational plant and control systems.
- Knowledge of Low Voltage (LV) systems.
- Understanding of Wonderware and ClearSCADA is desirable.

Qualifications
- Ideally qualified to HNC level or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in an instrumentation, control, and automation discipline.
- Preferably holds an 18th Edition (BS7671) qualification.
