
Location
East London, with a base at the Coppermills Water Production site close to Walthamstow.
Hours
Full Time - 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am – 3:36 pm, plus standby.
Salary
Up to £47,000 per annum, with potential earnings increase of £8,000 to £10,000 through standby rota payments and overtime opportunities.
About the Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Instrumentation, Control & Automation (ICA) or Control and Instrumentation (C&I) technician to join our Water Production Operations Team based in the North East London region. This mobile role involves working on various Water Treatment Works and borehole sites around the Chingford, Walthamstow, Waltham Abbey, and Stonebridge Park areas. The role includes installations, commissioning, maintenance, and repairs of water production assets, including level instrumentation, flow meters, and Tand VM’s turbidity monitors. You will work with SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, associated PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), and Process control networks. This vital role also involves investigating asset failures and implementing repairs quickly and efficiently to avoid interruptions to the water supply process. You will provide specialist technical advice, maintain up-to-date technical knowledge, and offer training support for technical apprentices.
Experience
A strong practical understanding of operational assets and control systems is essential. Fully versed with relay logic and PLCs (Rockwell & Allen-Bradley), including management and programming. Previous experience with inverter drives is preferred.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to interact effectively with the team. You should take ownership of responding quickly to faults and be proactive in recommending improvements around the sites.
Qualifications
Applicants should ideally have an HNC/Level 4 education or 6+ years’ experience, including a time-served apprenticeship within Control, Instrumentation, and Automation. A valid driving license is essential due to the nature of the role.
