About the Role
GE’s Power Conversion business, part of GE Vernova, provides electrification systems critical to customers’ power and energy needs for high-performance applications. We support major energy, maritime, and industrial organizations in their transition to energy efficiency and decarbonization through specialist motors, drives, automation, and control technologies. Due to continued expansion, we are seeking a Lead Electrical CAD Engineer to support service and upgrade projects within our systems engineering organisation.

In this role, you will deliver electrical design solutions for the upgrade, retrofit, modification, and life-extension of existing drives, distribution equipment, and automation systems for Marine, Naval, and Power Generation applications. You will adapt existing designs to meet new customer requirements, address component obsolescence, improve maintainability and manufacturability, and support the continued safe and reliable operation of equipment in service.

You will work across the full project lifecycle, from initial scope definition and technical assessment through detailed design, manufacturing support, testing, and customer delivery. Collaboration with Project Managers, Technical Leads, Service teams, Manufacturing, Procurement, and other engineering disciplines is key to developing practical, customer-focused upgrade solutions for installed equipment and systems.

This is hands-on, technically varied work involving assessment of legacy equipment, defining upgrade scopes, producing detailed circuit diagrams and layout drawings, resolving obsolescence challenges, and supporting projects through to delivery. Experience
- Proven experience as an electrical design engineer in service, retrofit, or sustaining engineering environments.
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical circuit design, panel and equipment modification, manufacturing processes, and testing procedures.
- Experience with 3D CAD tools for equipment layout, integration, or modification.
- Proficiency in E-Plan or similar CAD software for electrical circuit diagrams.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D drawing creation and updates.
- Ability to interpret legacy drawings and documentation and apply sound engineering judgement.
- Experience with Siemens Teamcenter PLM software for parts lists and Bills of Materials management is preferred.
- Experience in project management or project planning is advantageous.
- Willingness to travel internationally to support project delivery.

You combine solid technical judgement with hands-on skills and are motivated by delivering robust, compliant, and cost-effective engineering solutions. You communicate clearly and collaborate effectively across teams to ensure designs are practical and serviceable in the field.

Eligibility to obtain UK Security Check (SC) clearance is required as a condition of employment.

Qualifications
A qualification in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline is preferred but not mandatory. We value your total experience and professional achievements equally.
