About the Role
Do you have knowledge and experience in water resources? Do you enjoy project work and engaging with various technical specialists across teams and with stakeholders? If so, this role is for you! As a Lead Specialist Advisor, you will be the lead Senior User on the Water Resources Availability Model ICT project. This model will enable assessment of water availability for the environment and abstractors now and in the future, improving our evidence base for sustainable water resource management.
You will coordinate and collaborate with other Senior Users to represent the interests of users across the organisation who will use or benefit from the model’s products and deliverables. Engaging with technical specialists, you will agree on requirements and ensure they are met. You will also be responsible for testing the product and leading the production of guidance and training to ensure staff can use the model effectively from implementation.
The role involves close working with the ICT project team and consultants, acting as a liaison between the project team and users. You will work with regulators including the Environment Agency to agree arrangements for cross-border river catchments and engage with external stakeholders such as water companies who will use the model outputs. You will contribute to identifying project risks and actions to mitigate them.
This is a fixed term role until 31 March 2027 with the possibility of extension. Flexible working is supported, with any regular face-to-face meetings or training planned in advance.
