About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive team member to support the effective management of our water abstraction returns system. In this role, you will collaborate closely with colleagues across NRW and engage directly with external customers, requiring confident and clear communication in both English and Welsh. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating strong organisational skills and the ability to work accurately under pressure. Experience in water resources or data management is advantageous, along with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI.
You will be part of the diverse and experienced Water Resources Regulatory Approaches team within NRW's Evidence, Policy and Permitting Directorate. The team develops and delivers internal operational guidance and training resources and manages the Water Resources Return Service, which records abstraction data to support compliance.
Key responsibilities include supporting the assessment of water resources compliance with relevant legislation, providing technical input to consultations, supporting investigative programmes, delivering enhancement projects, coordinating contractors, supporting NRW's Incident Management Service, and undertaking health and safety duties appropriate to the post. Interviews will be conducted via Microsoft Teams. Successful applicants will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Appointments are normally made within 4 to 8 weeks of the closing date.
Experience
- Working knowledge of water resources, environmental management, agriculture, fisheries, conservation, or biodiversity.
- Experience in data management and use of tools such as Microsoft Excel and Power BI is advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure with strong organisational skills.
- Experience communicating effectively with internal and external customers and partners.
